EF1 Tornado Touches Down in Dowagiac Area

The National Weather Service in Northern Indiana has confirmed an EF1 tornado in the Dowagiac area. The tornado packed wind speeds of 95 mph and caused damage to several buildings and trees.

No injuries have been reported at this time. The tornado touched down at approximately 2:15 PM and traveled for about 2 miles before lifting.

The National Weather Service is urging residents in the affected area to be aware of the potential for additional tornadoes and to take precautions to stay safe.

At 4:21 PM, Michigan City, Indiana, was under a tornado warning. While there are no active warnings in West Michigan as of 4:21 pm, a developing supercell has the potential to produce tornadoes.

The weather service has confirmed four tornadoes in Michigan, injuring at least one person and damaging several buildings, including a FedEx facility.

The National Weather Service is urging residents to stay informed about the weather forecast and to be prepared to take shelter if necessary.
