Autonomic Nervous System Disorders

Autonomic Neuropathy

Autonomic neuropathy occurs when there is damage to the nerves that control automatic body functions. This can lead to problems with blood pressure, heart rate, digestion, and other bodily functions.

Autonomic Dysfunction

Autonomic dysfunction occurs when the autonomic nervous system is damaged. This is the system of nerves that controls functions that we do not consciously think about, such as breathing, heart rate, and digestion.

Dysautonomia

Dysautonomia is a nervous system disorder that disrupts autonomic body processes. These are automatic functions like your blood pressure and heart rate. This is the part of your nervous system that connects your brain to most of your internal organs. The autonomic nervous system ANS is a subcomponent of the peripheral nervous system PNS that regulates involuntary body functions like breathing digestion and heart rate and is responsible for control of the "fight or flight" response.
